Hi Friend,
Welcome to Issue 2 of Healing is a Journey newsletter.
Over the past few months, I've been on a journey to acquire my clinical license. But I must admit, sometimes I wonder if I'm making the right choice by doing so. I've taken a lot of time thinking about if my LCSW is right for me and I've come to a very profound idea. The idea of pursuing impact vs. enjoying the present moment.
If you've ever felt like you've been chasing impact but never actually feeling that impact, this one is for you.
P.S. This will direct you to my coaching website since it has blogging capabilities. Feel free to explore, however, my coaching services are currently on pause.

JUST FOR YOU: A Small but Simple Way to Practice Being Mindful
JOURNALING
Start journaling. Did you know the word journaling comes from the french word Jour or "DAY" and it can also be connected to the word "Journey" originally a word defined as a "Day's travel." Symbolically, we can say that a journal can be a journey inward and an expression of the self in real time. Science has shown that journaling is a way to optimize your therapy as a complementary tool to primary treatment by means of keeping track of your emotions, identifying possible triggers and understanding your current context. Think of journaling as providing yourself the opportunity to reflect on your feelings, thoughts and emotions and allowing a process where your internal and external worlds come together.
Raices Y Recuerdos/Roots and Memories Webinar
-Only $5
Somewhere between who we are and who our grandparents were, there are several stories and most of us never got to hear them.
This webinar is an invitation to change that.
Join Sofia Mendoza LCSW and Beatriz Rivera, ACSW for Raices y Recuerdos | Roots and Memories, a 90-minute recorded gathering for those looking to explore how collecting family memories can become one of the most powerful acts of healing available to us.
We'll explore how generational trauma and gifts are passed down, why archiving our stories matter for our mental health, and how a simple journal — filled out with your abuela, your abuelo, your grandparent, and other family members — can open conversations that have waited decades to happen.
Sofia will introduce her My Grandpa's Stories in My Heart Forever and My Grandma's Stories in My Heart Forever memory journals, walk through how the prompts work, and guide participants through a reflection exercises. Beatriz will discuss the benefits of mindful journaling.

Until next time.
