Hi There Reader,
Last week I sent out a newsletter discussing what Burnout is. I talked about how to identify it and some practical ways you can begin to "come back to yourself" if you've lost yourself to burnout.
This particular newsletter I want to continue this conversation and I want to do it by featuring a guest writer, Lorena Wade.
Lorena is a Faith-Driven Serial Entrepreneur and Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach to name a few of her titles (she's a badass). She has a fabulous Newsletter on LinkedIn called the Stewarded Path Letters where she offers courage, wisdom, and thoughtful reflection to women seeking clarity and confidence.
In her blog, "You Do Not Have To Carry It All Alone" she reminds us that we indeed do not have to carry on alone, that we can ask for support and that if we're not ok-that's ok.
As we continue to examine how burnout shows up and how it can sneakily be impacting our lives without us even knowing it, we have to remember that as women our biggest detriment is what Emily and Amelia Nagoski, authors of the book Burnout, call Human Giver Syndrome.
This syndrome is exactly what the name implies, a syndrome characterized by too much giving-giving of our time, giving of our energy, and giving of our bodies for the sake of others.
And sometimes this looks like doing everything ourselves-without help, without support, alone, and isolated.
Come and read it and get a dose of genuine motivation and inspiration. If you want to learn more about Lorena, read about her down below.
Enjoy,

Happy Pride Month!
To my LGBTQ+ community, I hope you walk in to pride with your confidence like you can pull off those 70's white platform stilettos. Walk down the street like you're walking down the runway at New York Fashion Week and be unapologetically authentically you.

Therapy Vs. Coaching
Prior to pursuing my LCSW I was a coach. And now as I embark on this licensure journey I am thinking about the differences, but also similarities between coaching and therapy.
In my coaching experience, I have always been careful to draw the line between coaching and therapy with my clients. I ensure they know that our sessions-while sometimes can feel therapeutic, are not therapy. I have a responsibility to ensure that if I begin to see behavior and thought patterns that impact the client's everyday functioning, I will make a referral for a licensed mental health professional.
They understand that we will work on "stuck" points from a curious perspective. That I will ask questions to help them get to their own answers.
Sometimes we will work to identify patterns based on thoughts and beliefs, (which can be a framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) but that I will not "diagnose" or recommend any sort of medication.
Is is also important to note that Therapists are licensed mental health professionals with over 3,000 hours of gained clinical experience (dependent on the state) that is verified by a board that oversees licensure protocol, policy, law and ethics-all for the protection of the consumer. For example, in California, LCSW's are regulated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences or the BBS. In New York, LCSW's are regulated by the Office of the Professions.
Coaches, while many are certified and can go through certification programs approved by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) the coaching industry is generally not regulated, and at best it is self-regulated. Reflective Question of the Week
When was the last time I asked for help and how can I ask for it more often?
Reply with your thoughts, make a reel about it, write a blog or simply have a discussion with your friend.
